Hi Kim, thank you for your well-argued answer. I’m happy to develop a bit more on that.
Funny that you mention this Medium article “Design Thinking, Lean, Agile…” because it was at the same time a clear source of inspiration but also the state of the art that we are trying to improve with the Design Sprint Quarter.

Don’t get me wrong:

  • Design Thinking makes sense
  • Lean startup makes sense
  • Agile development makes sense

The problem is that in the end, Design thinking +Lean Startup + Agile works theoretically on a graph, but it’s way harder to achieve in real life.

They are good practices, which nobody respects in fact, most of the time due to a lack of time and budget.

Enters the Design Sprint which in my opinion, an upgrade of the Design Thinking + early Lean startup stages: faster, cheaper, easier to integrate within the companies. No wonder it is growing exponentially. Because it becomes realistic. You need a small team and just one week to get actual results.

With the Design Sprint Quarter, we are proposing a step by step process with a clear schedule. Maybe a bit streamlined, but that companies can actually do to get qualitative results in just 3-month.

I see it as a bit like a Lady Gaga song compared to Vivaldi. It’s probably less rich, but it‘s catchy. We are in 2019 and I bet you don’t listen to Vivaldi in your car ;)
